160612 In House Training #2

On the 16th June 2012, the BOL held it's 2nd in house training for the librarians on probation. The program is held from 8am-12pm. The main objective of this program is to teach the probation librarians the 'art' of processing books... xD

After that, we all have to list down problems that we face everyday in the library!
Senior librarians and teachers took this oopurtunity to clean up the forest APD Room too!
After the program, the librarians were treated to Domino's and mee goreng for all the effort they put in for the Library Week that was recently held. Thank you teachers! :D



With full stomachs and a new skill on processing books, the librarians went back home at 12pm. Thank you senior librarians for your help throughout the program and thank you teachers for the food the guidance and help too! xD

The Sweet Revolution~ (Library Week 2012)

After just 2 weeks of planning and preparation, our fellow librarians have done it again! From 23rd to 27th April 2012, the librarian board held its annual Library Week. The library have been transformed into a world of candy, as this years's theme-(The Sweet Revolution), is ALL about candy!

There are 6 kiosks in total:-

Kiosk 1: Herbal Confectioneries       (Leader: Kam Kah Sheng   4K1)
Kiosk 2: Chocolate Confectioneries  (Leader: Chan Yew Chun   3E)
Kiosk 3: Fruit Confectioneries          (Leader: Michelle Yeong     3C)
Kiosk 4: Media                                (Leader: Kienan Yeo          2B)
Kiosk 5: Celebrating With Candy     (Leader: Nina Ashlie           5sc1)
Kiosk 6: Games and Activities          (Leader: Lum Yee Sin        4K3)

Students and teachers not only get to admire the models and kiosks built by the librarians, games such as Info Hunt, Photo Hunt, Marble Maze and Toss The Ring are also prepared. Movies were also played at the Multimedia Room. Since this year's Library Week is about candy, a variety of candies are also sold throughout Library Week (The candy store was a huge hit among the students!) Variety of prizes were also prepared for contests held such as Info Hunt, Photo Hunt and the Poster Drawing Competition. Students and teachers were also given the opportunity to vote for the best kiosk.

Aim:-

  • To introduce the origins and evolution of candy through the passage of time, the role of candy in everyday life, and effect of candy to our health to fellow teachers and students.


Objective:-

  • To let students have a better understanding on the origins of candy and the health risks it brings.
  • To let students have an opportunity to admire and look at models and kiosks made by the librarians.
  • To change the perception of candy in students.

By the end of the week, the library was cleaned up and reverted back to normal. And the winner of best kiosk goes to.... Kiosk 4!! Congrats!

Of course many thanks to Cik Lina and fellow librarian teachers for their guidance, Library Week planner-Pamella, and every single librarian that helped out, for making Library Week such a huge success! We hope that Library Week next year would be better and more interesting! :)

290212 Program Pendidikan Pengguna!!

Pada 29 Februari 2012, seramai 30 ahli pengawas pusat sumber sekolah kami telah menyertai Program Pendidikan Pengguna yang diadakan di Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia. Program tersebut dianjurkan oleh pihak pengurus Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia. Rombongan ini berada di bawah pimpingan Cik Lina Lee dan Pn. Farahtul. Objektif program ini adalah seperti berikut:-
  • Memberi pendedahan mengenai penggunaan sumber-sumber maklumati yang terdapat di Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia.
  • Meningkatkan kemahiran mengakses makluat dan menggunakan sumber-sumber maklumat.
  • Mendapatkan maklumat yang dikehendaki dengan tepat.
Selepas pendaftaran dan minum pagi, program tersebut dimulakan dengan ceramah oleh salah satu staf perpustakaan. Ceramah tersebut memberi pendedahan kepada para pengawas pusat sumber tentang Perkhidmatan PNM dan Sumber-sumber rujukan asas. Para pengawas pusat sumber juga ditunjukkan cara menggunakan program OPAC, MyLib Perkhidmatan Hipermedia.

Selepas makan tengahari, program diteruskan dengan lawatan ke Pusat Manuskrip Melayu, Perkhidmatan Mikrofilem, dan Bahagian Pemuliharaan.

Pada pukul 4.30 petang, program tersebut diakhiri dengan ucapan oleh pihak pengurus Pusat Sumber Sekolah dan guru-guru penyelara pusat sumber sekolah kami. Kami berharap program-program ini boleh lebih giat disertai oleh para pengawas pusat sumber pada masa hadapan.
